Environmental health and safety

Institutional awareness that laboratories can work with.

EH&S teams protect people and institutions across hundreds of independent research environments. Ouro Labs supports that mission with role-based visibility and collaboration — not by treating laboratories as obstacles to compliance.

Visibility model

Labs below · institutional layer above

Collaboration language — not surveillance framing.

Laboratories are not negligent when inventory maps are incomplete — they are operating in decentralized environments without a shared operational layer. Ouro Labs meets EH&S and bench culture in the middle.

The EH&S challenge

Fragmentation is structural, not personal.

Inventory awareness, hazard context, and inspection readiness depend on data that often lives in lab-local systems, informal channels, or outdated exports.

Decentralized laboratories

Each group optimizes for research velocity. Institutional records struggle to stay synchronized.

Role-appropriate access

EH&S needs breadth; laboratories need control over what changes and who sees sensitive detail.

Collaboration over confrontation

Programs succeed when laboratories participate — not when they feel monitored through parallel spreadsheets.

Continuity during change

Turnover in labs and EH&S staff alike exposes gaps in hazard and inventory knowledge.

How Ouro Labs helps

One operational source, scoped by permission.

When laboratories maintain inventory and workflows in Ouro Labs, EH&S can access institutional views aligned to role — reducing duplicate data collection while improving timeliness.

  • See cross-laboratory patterns for planning and support — not blanket exposure of every record.
  • Work with laboratories in a shared workspace rather than chasing static exports before every review.
  • Tenant and RBAC boundaries keep institutional scope explicit.
  • Pair with pilot discovery to align EH&S goals with how each department actually operates.

FAQ

Questions from EH&S partners.

How is data separated between organizations?

Workspaces are separated by tenant boundaries. Authentication identifies the user; Ouro Labs determines authorized workspace membership and permissions.

Can EH&S gain visibility without disrupting laboratories?

That is a core design goal. Ouro Labs emphasizes role-based institutional visibility and collaboration rather than forcing laboratories into rigid compliance-only workflows.

Is Ouro Labs SOC 2 or HIPAA certified?

Ouro Labs does not claim SOC 2, HIPAA, ISO, or similar certifications unless and until they are formally achieved and published. Current public security language covers Auth0 authentication, RBAC, tenant separation, and encryption in transit.
